ABOUT JORIS

Originally from Alsace, Joris Jouffrey decided four years ago to settle in Chambéry to pursue his career as a gendarme. At 25 years old, Joris doesn't limit himself to just one sports passion; he finds joy in a variety of activities, especially those that bring him closer to the mountains. Road cycling, trail running, climbing, ski touring...

Between November and May, he dedicates himself fully to trail running, where he has shone on the trails of Alsace. His performances are remarkable, with victories and podium finishes in races such as the Trail des Foulées du Souvenir, the Trail du Vieil Armand, and the Trail de la Moselotte.

The rest of the year, Joris hops on his bike to tackle cyclosportives and grand prix races. His successes, like his eighth place at the Madone Peille in 2023 or his victory at the Grand Prix MJC de Buhl the same year, attest to his talent and determination on the roads and cycling circuits.

But beyond his sporting achievements, Joris stands out for his commitment to values that are dear to him. That's why he chose to support Gourmiz', a brand of energy bars made in France. 🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️🧗‍♂️

Can you tell us about your sporting journey and how you became an ambassador for Gourmiz?

I have been involved in sports since I was very young. My parents had me try several sports before I found the one that really suited me. I was immediately drawn to cycling and running. When I turned 18, it became more evident to focus on trail running as my main sport, as it required less training time. After an injury, I returned to cycling, and now I try to practice both. Sometimes I focus more on one than the other depending on the season.

In late 2023, I was contacted by Jérôme through my partner, and I immediately connected with the values of Gourmiz'. I had the opportunity to taste some bars before, and I must admit I fell in love with the coconut cocoa flavor.

What motivated you to become an ambassador for Gourmiz?

I love pushing my limits, trying to understand my body by experimenting with new training methods. I also enjoy diversifying my experiences, whether it's varying distances or types of terrain. I love traveling and taking advantage of it to make new discoveries. With my job as a gendarme, I constantly have to adapt my schedule, but I always manage to find time to train.

What motivated you to become an ambassador for Gourmiz?

I love that Gourmiz' is a French brand that offers natural products and is completely transparent in its production.

As an athlete, how do you manage your diet during periods of intense competition?

During competitions, I've tried several nutrition methods, and in the end, what I prefer is not to change anything! Maintaining a healthy lifestyle throughout the year seems to be the most effective approach for me.

>How do Gourmiz's values correspond to your own values as an athlete?

I think mentally, the most challenging aspect isn't the competitions themselves, which typically last less than 4 hours on average, but rather the bike journeys. For several days, you know you'll be outside all day, regardless of the weather conditions, and mentally, you inevitably have some tough moments. You have to hold onto the initial desire that drove you to train over and over again! One day it pays off! It's through failures that you understand the importance of nutrition in sports. At first, you might think you can manage a 30km race without eating, but over the years, you realize that nutrition helps you better handle the effort and sustain it for as long as possible!

What have been the greatest challenges you've faced in your sporting career, and how have you overcome them?

I've recently enlisted the help of a coach to assist me in planning my training more effectively and reaching my peak performance on competition days. I'm planning to increase my participation in trail competitions this year, with the aim of targeting the French Trail Championships next year.
