I was born in Weki, Eritrea, the eldest of five children. Running has always been essential to me, a passion from childhood inspired by athletes like Yonas Kifle and Kenenisa Bekele. At 14, I ran my first marathon, joined the national cross-country team at 16, and competed in my first international competition at 19. My dream came true thanks to mountain running: in 2006, with the Eritrean junior team, I won the bronze medal at the World Mountain Running Trophy in Turkey. The following year, I won silver in Switzerland and applied for asylum.

WHY GOURMIZ?

"I chose Gourmiz' first and foremost because it's a food that's excellent for my health and meets my needs - both sporting, when training, and personal and gourmet, as a snack and source of qualitative sweetness."

ACHIEVEMENT

I pursue my dreams and goals with determination, aiming for the Olympic Games. After financing my training in Kenya in 2018, I reached 2h13'51'' at the 2019 Berlin Marathon. Motivated by the values of integration and humanity, I applied for the IOC Refugee Olympic Team for Tokyo 2020 / 2021. Not being able to represent either Eritrea or Switzerland, running for this cross-cultural team would be a great honor.
