Handbike is part of paracycling, a discipline derived from cycling in which you ride a recumbent bike, propelled solely by the strength of your arms. I belong to the most severely disabled category of athletes, which makes it a particularly demanding and selective practice.

My name is Mickaël Mésaros, I’m 35 years old. In 2011, I was the victim of a road accident that left me a quadriplegic. For me, sport has been a real motor for reconstruction, a means of regaining balance and projecting myself into new challenges. Today, it has become my life project.

I train between 8 and 15 hours a week, which represents around 10,000 kilometers covered each year. This discipline requires constant rigor and great determination.
